Zee Morales, one of our enrollment specialists at West PACE, visited with the host of Oceanside Spectrum on KOCT-TV to explain what a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program is and talk about the services we provide to North County San Diego seniors and their family caregivers.

What does PACE stand for in health care and nursing?

PACE stands for Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, but it’s more than just an acronym. For us, PACE also stands for successful aging, dignity, and community.

After experiencing firsthand the challenges of accessing quality, affordable health care while caring for their parents, Gary and Mary West founded West PACE to improve the lives of seniors in their community.

A big part of the PACE program is about helping seniors to age with dignity. With that in mind, we have a wide array of services all geared towards helping our elderly age at home rather than in a nursing home or care facility.

By providing them with the necessary tools they’re able to not only remain in their own home, but also enjoy a good quality of life and retain a sense of dignity that’s often lost as people grow older.

A model of person-centered care, PACE has been shown to reduce rates of emergency room visits, unnecessary hospital admissions, and long-term nursing home placements.

What programs does PACE offer?

While we have numerous programs under the PACE umbrella, everything we do is guided by a strong desire to provide quality and affordable health care. Once you’re enrolled in PACE, all your eligible medical care services are provided by the program. We take care of your cost of care. Learn more about PACE qualification criteria.

We also have an onsite senior center and adult daycare facility where we host daily social activities and offer a supportive community for older adults to meet friends, take part in fitness events and much more.

How do you enroll with PACE?

We’ve tried to make enrolling with PACE as easy as possible. You can contact us or fill out our online application form to get the process started. Someone from our organization will be in touch with you no later than one business day of you reaching out.
