Due to declining COVID-19 infection rates, Gary and Mary West PACE has resumed full operations of our Day Center and meal services Monday through Thursday each week, starting March 7, 2022. We have enjoyed welcoming our participants back to the Adult Day Health Center for socialization, hot meals and more!

While West PACE continues to closely monitor the impact of the coronavirus, our community seems to have passed the peak of the pandemic wave. Thankfully, daily infection numbers, hospitalizations, and most importantly, daily numbers of COVID-19 related deaths all continue to improve.

West PACE Medical Director, Dr. Ross Colt, announced the resumption of services after months of reduced center operations triggered by the pandemic. During that period, the Center remained open, but services for participants were administered remotely as much as possible to ensure safety for all. Remote services included grocery delivery, meal preparation and delivery, housecleaning, use of care.coach devices and volunteer check-in calls. Participants without friends or family nearby continued to visit the Center for services and were sent home with activity packets assembled by recreation staff and meals in to-go boxes.

The social isolation that seniors often experience became even more prevalent during the pandemic. While West PACE participants stayed busy at home with music, games, audiobooks, and keeping in touch with Center staff over the phone during the pandemic, it was no substitute for connecting in person. By reopening our doors to full capacity, we aim to bring smiles to the faces of our participants and once again engage in meaningful in-person recreational activities that keep seniors engaged and connected.

The pandemic is, of course, not yet finished with our community or our world. As a health care facility, masks are still required for participants and staff in our Center and in our transportation vans. The only time a mask is not required is when you are actively eating or drinking.

If you or a loved one are 55 or older, live in North County San Diego, and meet state requirements for nursing home level of care, contact us today to see if enrolling in our program is right for you. We also welcome you to schedule a tour of our center. Call 760-280-2230 or email us today.
